Segons el colofó, el llibre es va acabar d’imprimir el 20 de febrer de 1935 a la Imprimerie de Charles Bulens. El volum inclou un frontispici de Salvador Dalí, reproduït en heliogravat i aiguafort en els quinze primers exemplars, i una dedicatòria a la portadella a Louis Broder, figura destacada del món editorial de l’època. De manera anàloga al mètode paranoic-crític de Dalí, Tzara proposa que l’activitat delirant substitueixi conscientment la inspiració poètica (1). En la seva narrativa, l’autor descriu “una superestructura lírica, els elements de la qual deriven de l’estructura mateixa i que, tan aviat com es realitza, actua sobre aquesta des de l’alçada del seu nou poder. Sap desenvolupar en ocasions la seva virulència, fins al punt de soscavar el sentit d’aquesta estructura, corrompre-la, aixecar-la i destruir-la en la seva essència” (2). El text de Tzara troba la seva correspondència visual en l’estampa de Dalí, el ritme accelerat de la qual remet als dibuixos realitzats durant la seva primera visita als Estats Units, el novembre de 1934. No obstant això, el rerefons destructiu que es percep en l’obra coincideix amb el clima europeu de l’època, al qual també al·ludeix Tzara en el seu text. __________ (1) p. 213.
