{"id":9379,"date":"2009-10-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-25T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webdali.latempesta.eu\/fundacio-dali\/noticia\/darrera-adquisicio-d-obra\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T10:20:17","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T08:20:17","slug":"last-acquisition-of-an-oil-painting","status":"publish","type":"noticia","link":"https:\/\/webdali.latempesta.eu\/en\/dali-foundation\/news\/last-acquisition-of-an-oil-painting\/","title":{"rendered":"Last acquisition of an oil painting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Foundation has presented a work painted on both sides titled <em>Nymphs and Young Ladies in a Garden Fountain<\/em> from circa 1921 and a portrait of his sister Anna Maria on the other side:\u00a0<em>Figure from\u00a0Behind<\/em>, painted in 1925.<\/p>\n<p>The painting is exhibited at the Fishmongers Room, in the Dal\u00ed Theatre-Museum of Figueres, in an installation specially designed to show both sides of the work.<\/p>\n<p>The first side to be painted is a very lyrical playful scene that can be inscribed in the festive theme of other works created during 1921. It transports us into the surroundings, of idyllic echoes, where nymphs take a bath in a large fountain, with rows of trees to the side. The painter captures the moment of the bathing ritual. Dal\u00ed shapes his search for decadent symbolism. The feminine figures evoke a classical Arcadia and give off sensuality, refinement and their exquisite forms, combined with a rich chromatic delicacy.<\/p>\n<p>We may not forget the influence of Ismael Smith, Mari\u00e0 Andreu or N\u00e9stor Mart\u00edn-Fern\u00e1ndez de la Torre, all of them friends of Salvador Dal\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>It is not the first time Dal\u00ed uses a cardboard on both sides and it is not the first time he uses his sister Anna Maria as a central theme. The first portraits of her were dated in 1923.
