The condition and deterioration of the materials were examined: the wooden boat, the enormous metal crutches supporting it, the sails, and the mechanical device that controls the opening of the umbrella on the masthead. For nearly two months, standing on scaffolding some 14 metres high, the restorers and a team of specialists coordinated by the department worked to repair the metal structures, reinforce the wooden hull, restore the boat\u2019s polyester elements, and clean the sail and umbrella motor, with highly satisfactory results.<\/p>\n                            <\/div>\n\n                            \n
